The Community House will host its 24th annual Birmingham House Tour on Thursday, September 15. The event, presented by Hall & Hunter Realtors, runs from 10:00 a.m. - 4 p.m. The cost per person is $30, in advance or $35 the day of the tour. Advance reservations are recommended as the event does sell out. This year’s tour presents eight spectacular homes which showcase the best of Birmingham and Bloomfield. The homes range in style from traditional to contemporary. Proceeds from this event will benefit the outreach programs of the Community House.
"We are delighted to once again offer our guests the rare opportunity to look inside some of Birmingham's most beautiful homes, said Michelle Schwab, co-chair of the Birmingham House Tour. “We strive to select special homes that showcase the diversity of architecture and design styles that make up this area. Among the homes featured this year are a sophisticated in-town London-style town home, an Aspen-inspired family home in which the natural materials bring the outdoors inside, and a classic 1920s Tudor where the influences of the both the father/architect and daughter/artist combine to create a unique modern appeal.”
All House Tour attendees are invited back to The Community House from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. for an informal afternoon tea. The tea is complimentary.
In addition, a salad buffet luncheon, sponsored by Talmer Bank and Trust will be offered from 11:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. on the Van Dusen Terrace of The Community House. The cost to attend the tour and luncheon is $45. Proceeds from the House Tour are used to fund the outreach programs of The Community House.
Other sponsors for the event include Gorman’s, Detroit Home Magazine and The Michigan Design Center. Honorees for the 2010 Birmingham House Tour are Denise and Chuck Little. Kristen Armstrong and Michelle Schwab are this year’s event co-chairs.
